Adam Lambert's "Glam Nation Tour" Gets Underway This Summer

Billboard.com has just released their top 24 American Idols of all-time.

This list isn't some arbitrary collection of Idol finalists based on the opinions of a room full of geeky editors. Instead, it tries to rank the idols based on their success.

To do this, Billboard looked at each Idol's album sales, track sales, and radio plays.

Topping the list is the original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson. The 2002 winner has sold over 10 million albums, 15 million tracks and notched over 4 million radio plays.

In second place, despite selling more albums than any other Idol (11.5 million), is Carrie Underwood. She's regulated to second because her track sales and radio plays trail Clarkson's.

Chris Daughtry finished fourth in 2006 but he's third on Billboard's list.

Idol's youngest winner, the squeaky clean Jordin Sparks, sits at number four and rounding out the top five is 2008 champ David Cook.

Idols six through ten are Clay Aiken, Kellie Pickler, David Archuleta, Fantasia, and Ruben Studdard.

Jennifer Hudson is ranked at lucky number 13. A case could be made that she is the most successful Idol of all-time. Not much in entertainment can surpass winning an Oscar.

The only non-finalist on the list is William Hung (21st place). He got his 15 minutes of fame with his rendition of "She Bangs" back in 2004.

All the American Idols winners from 2002 to 2009 made the list. The lowest ranking champion is Taylor Hicks (19). The "Soul Patrol" Idol is sandwiched between Kimberly Locke and Blake Lewis.

Despite being an Idol champion and a former Idol finalist for less than a year, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert found themselves 11th and 12th, respectively, on Billboard's ranking.

Lambert just notched his first Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 hit, "Whataya Want From Me," and is about to launch his first solo U.S. Tour.

The Glam Nation Tour gets underway June 4 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and concludes Sept. 18 in St. Petersburg.

Currently, most of Lambert dates are in June including an Adam Lambert Show in Sayreville, New Jersey on the 5th; an Adam Lambert concert in Council Bluffs, Iowa on the 10th; and an Adam Lambert performance in Mashantucket, Connecticut on the 24th.

On July 15, Lambert rocks Kansas City, Missouri. Then Costa Mesa collects Adam Lambert tickets on July 27 and 28 at the Pacific Amphitheatre.

In August, Lambert plays Musikefest in Bethlehem on the 13th and then in September the Idol runner-up visits St. Petersburg on the 18th--the tour's final show.

Opening for Adam is fellow American Idol contestant Allison Iraheta (she ranked 24th) and former Michael Jackson guitarist, Orianthi.

What should the Lambert Army expect if they buy a ticket to Adam Lambert? Fans should expect a theatrical show with great costumers, special-effect lighting, and plenty of "glam."

"I hope the audience will be able to escape for a few hours and fall into a world full of glam, drama and excitement. And I would love everyone to come away with a new appreciation for the music on my album," said Lambert in a written statement.

Other highlights of the Glam Nation Tour including a June 11 Lambert concert at the Shooting Star Casino in Mahnomen, Minnesota; a June 22 Lambert concert at the Nokia Theatre in New York City; and a June 26 Lambert show in Atlantic City.
