Taylor Swift is Fearless on Tour

Taylor Swift has an appropriate name since her rise to fame has been “swift.”

Swift’s already accomplished more at the age of 19 than most performers accomplish in a career.

According to Nielsen SoundScan, Swift was the biggest selling artist of 2008.

Her latest album, Fearless, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart.

Swift was the most searched musical artist on MySpace in 2008.

Although no one watched, because no one watches baseball on television anymore, Swift sang the Star-Spangled Banner at game three of the 2008 World Series.

In January of 2009, Swift became the youngest country singer to be a musical guest on Saturday Night Live. Even though her performance was awful and irritating, the episode did give SNL their highest ratings in months.

In February and March, Swift will perform at several hootenannies and hoedowns, including the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, the Florida Strawberry Festival and the Houston Rodeo.

Then in April, Swift will embark on her first ever headlining tour.

The Fearless Tour 2009 will have the young star performing in over 50 cities in America and Canada. The tour begins April 23rd in Evansville, Indiana and is scheduled to end October 10th in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

In between, Swift will visit places like Calgary, Winnipeg, and Cheyenne.

"Headlining my own tour is a dream come true! This way I can play more music every night than I ever have before," Swift wrote in her diary with a purple ink pen while dotting all of her “i’s” with hearts.

"Having written my own songs, they are all stories in my head, and my goal for this tour is to bring those stories to life."

If two hours of Swift singing on stage isn’t enough of a draw, American Idol alumni, Kellie Pickler, will be the tour’s opening act.

Prices for Swift’s shows are expected to start around $20. That’s how much you have to pay for Taylor Swift Tickets, not how much they’ll pay you to take Taylor Swift Tickets.

“I want to be sure that everyone has the opportunity to come see my show, so we have affordable tickets available for every date we do this year," Swift told the yearbook staff.

Her tour will feature a fairy tale castle decorated with millions of small lights and multiple costume changes.

Swift designed the stage and all the graphics that will be used in the show.

“My favorite thing when I go to a concert is having lots of changing things to look at, so I've been working really hard to make this show as multi-dimensional as possible,” said Swift from her usual table in the mall’s food court.

What is behind Swift’s immense popularity?

Is it her talent? After all she plays the piano and five different guitars (a black guitar, a pink guitar, a red guitar, a purple guitar, and a plaid guitar).

Is it her song writing capabilities? The New York Times described her as "one of pop's finest songwriters, country’s foremost pragmatist and more in touch with her inner life than most adults." And as well all know the New York Times never gets anything wrong.

Or is it something else?

Certainly Swift’s music affects people and certainly she connects with her audience. Swift does bring energy to the stage and she does have a unique songwriting perspective.

Her meteoric rise to stardom and her crossover from country celebrity to pop princess is impressive. However, she has one very important trait that can’t be overlooked. That trait is her good looks.

Swift is drop-dead gorgeous. Not only that, but she’s young. Swift is so young, she cites LeAnn Rimes as an influence.

Swift is a 19 year-old woman that looks like a 14 year-old girl. That combination equals fame and fortune in the U.S.A.

There is no way Taylor Swift would be touring and playing in place like Los Angeles and Las Vegas if she looked like Lawrence Taylor or Jonathan Swift.

While Swift’s talents have enabled her to maximize the opportunities her looks have given her, there’s still no denying that most people who listen to her, would rather have the sound turned off.
