The Dead Tour 2009

The Dead are touring in 2009. Unfortunately, Jerry won't be with them.

The last full lineup in 1995 was the following:
  • Jerry Garcia – lead guitar, vocals
  • Bob Weir – rhythm guitar, vocals
  • Vince Welnick – keyboards, vocals
  • Phil Lesh – bass, vocals
  • Bill Kreutzmann – drums, percussion
  • Mickey Hart – drums, percussion
Jerry Garcia died in 1995, thus ending the incredible run the Dead had. I've been to a few Dead concerts back in the early 90's and they were unforgettable experiences.

But now the remaining members of the Grateful Dead are reuniting and touring again in 2009. bassist Phil Lesh, drummers Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann and guitarist Bob Weir are going on the road together again.

The Allmanss and Gov't Mule's Warren Haynes will replace Jerry Garcia, who of course is unreplaceable, which I know is not an actual word.

I miss Jerry Garcia.

Here are the cities on The Dead 2009 Tour Schedule so far:

Although there is no replacing Jerry Garcia, both in vocals or in lead guitar, these shows ought to be very special and there is no doubt that The Dead is still full of irreplaceable talent.

Unreplaceable surely can be a word if you want it to be. Why must one use "irreplaceable"? I mean seriously, who's the official decider? Merriam & Webster? They're just a company who prints a book. As human beings, we're free to make up any words we want!

But anyway... Jerry is always there -- every time Bob or Phil or Mickey or Billy takes the stage. His spirit dwells within each of them. There's no denying that. No, Jerry won't physically be there on stage, but the Captain is alive and well in many ways!

Even though Phil's gotta be like what? 85, 86? Still oughta be a great tour!
